The Mantua Enterprise for Community, Culture, and Artistry (MECCA) is a home-grown engine of transformation — a partnership with Mantua residents for neighborhood activation, revitalization, and economic development.
Rooted in the lived experience of Mantua residents and learnings from Black artists in dance, MECCA uses the arts as a vehicle for workforce development, scholarship access, disrupting cycles of incarceration or addiction, and greater possibility, yet to be imagined.
We are a community development corporation, with a mission to empower all Mantuans with the skills and resources we need to invigorate community culture and change the conditions of our environment.
MECCA is where Black art meets radical love, where our shared past, present, and future is expressed as neighborhood pride.
What We Do
We’re tapping into Community, Culture, and Artistry to build infrastructure for transformation:

Creating a central hub for community development, health education, financial literacy, addiction recovery, and more

Generating economic activity and cultivating joy through dance festivals, youth programs, and community events

Encouraging prosperity and combating recidivism by training creative entrepreneurs and illuminating new career pathways
When the arts are engaged as skill-building, culture-bearing, joy-affirming, and community-belonging, they become a clear catalyst for social change.
